Chambers

One day we driving in countryside of Thailand and pulled into a spacious community area. Or so we thought.

We were immediately mystified by a large blackened stove. It took us only a couple of moments to realize what it was.

A burning chamber for the dead.

In Thailand the people don’t bury their lost ones. They burn them.

The procession usually starts in the evening, when they place the body in the burning chamber. The body then burns until it is consumed.

All people have a different way of burying their dead, but death itself is still the same. It stabs each heart the same way. Oh, how it stings. Yet, Jesus has conquered death. In Him we have the same victory over death.

“’O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. ” (1 Corinthians 15:55-57)
