Birdie

Earlier today, we drove up near a fence. I was surprised to see a little bird less than a couple feet away from me. It was sitting on its eggs, patiently waiting for them to hatch.

Now, I don’t know too much about birds, but when we had chickens they would sit upon their eggs vigilantly, only coming out once a day for a small snack and a bathroom break. They would sit for nearly a month. That’s a long time sitting anywhere, even if you are an animal. It requires unusual patience to endure such waiting.

Sometimes God calls us to wait upon the Him. “Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” Psalms 27:14. Yet, often it is hard to wait. The Bible says that we won’t be put to shame if we wait upon the Lord, and the Lord will do good to those who wait. So, wait for the Lord, and He will answer.
