20 Traveling Must-Haves

Here is a list of my favorite traveling must-haves.

1. Headphone jack. The small black piece is all you need, but if you want to have two audio ports the red cord divides it so two can listen at once.

2. Noise canceling headphones are the best on the airplane. Sometimes your ears need a break after so many hours.

3. Traveling Purse. It needs to be big enough to be able to slide your laptop/headphones/or devices in and out for ease at security. I love using this one. This is nice because it has a cross-body strap.

4. If you’re not going to take a whole bottle of shampoo and conditioner, you can take these three ounce travel bottles. And they can go in your carry-on too.

5. If you’re traveling out of the United States, most likely the voltage is 240 volts and that means that your hairdryer won’t work! But don’t worry, they sell hairdryers overseas and that’s what I bring with me while traveling.

6. Speaking of voltage, I found this perfect traveling duel voltage hair straightener. Although my hair is naturally straight, I can use this straightener to counter the effects of the hard water on my hair.

7. A reading light is a must have! You never know when you need a light. Literally, at McDonald’s the power went out while we were eating. 😀 I’ve had this one for years, and it’s amazing!

8. Needle, thread, and scissors. Scissors are always handy, and you never know when you need to repair something.

9. A separate wallet for foreign currency.

10. Bowls, plates, spoons, and forks. This plastic dishware at Walmart is only $0.50. So cheap and really good in quality. These are light and small, and disposable if needed.

11. After sleeping with a fan for years, I like to sleep with noise. But since you can’t feasibly bring a fan with you, this small device works wonderfully instead.

12. Traveling organizers. It’s like having a flexible drawer.

13. Traveling towel. We use this one from IKEA and it’s perfect. It dries really fast. I use the smaller size, which is great if you don’t have much room in your baggage.

14. Power-bank. You don’t want to be lost on a mountain road with a dead phone!

15. An insulated cup/bottle. A cool trick that I’ve learned is that in security they usually let you take just ice in your bottle. Once the ice melts, you’ve got at least some extra water to drink on the airplane. My mom got me this YETI bottle for me for my birthday. It’s no spill (that’s important because more than once I’ve spilled my Stanley in the airplane or airport).

16. Sleeping bag.

17. A dirty clothes bag.

18. A plastic bucket that folds down for washing clothes if necessary. I have never had one like this, because I usually use plastic totes, but I think this will be awesome.

19. An air filter is a must have no matter where you travel in Asia.

20. Dish soap. We like to bring Dawn, because it’s a great product for getting rid of grease.

These things are some of my favorites to bring. 🙂 I hope this list can help you in your travels.
