Snow!
Snow drifted from the heavens today for the first time this year in Texas. The small flakes of crystalized ice floated down from above, sprinkling us with tidbits of cold. It started this morning and has continued rather constantly until now. Because we live Texas, I doubt the snow will stick, but it’s still rather beautiful to see it falling to the ground in such a careless manner.
The Bible talks about snow as well in Isaiah 1:18. βCome now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”
Our sins were scarlet, crimson, dark with wickedness. Ever since the first man sinned in the garden of Eden, us humans have inherited this evil. No matter how we wash ourselves, we can never hope to be clean by ourselves. We can never become righteous before God, Who robes Himself in white and is filled with glorious light (I John1:5, Luke 9:29Β ). But God sent His righteous Son Jesus to us, as I Peter 3:18 says, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,”. Christ died for us so that we would become as white as snow. He payed for our sins on the cross and rose again on the third day. Now because He conquered death, He can give eternal life to us. “To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.” (Revelation 21:6). You don’t have pay anything to be made white as snow and holy before God, only repent from your sins and believe in Jesus as Savior. “And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21). Believe and receive His gift. Be white as snow now.
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” (Psalm 51:7).
Shalom. May God wash your sins away so that all that is left is as pure as snow. God bless.
