Broken Bow, Oklahoma… spring break Vacation
I had just come home from the gym the last Friday of spring break. The previous few days all I had done was read… and read… and eaten a ton of junk food. The classic spring break for me.
So, when I heard that we’d be taking a vacation, the location unknown to me at the time, my excitement grew. I, generally an over-packer decided to go light. Big mistake (well, at least the place had a washer and drier). Then we were off to Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
After stopping in Paris, Texas, to drop off our two beagles, we hit the road for an hour and a half. We reached our Broken Bow lodge just after dusk, but the dark didn’t sway the beauty of our little rented lodge. It had a cozy sitting room, large kitchen (this we used so much), three bedrooms and three baths, and a big hot tub.
Surrounded by tall pines, we were quite secluded (very nice).
Down the piney hill from our lodge, there was a neat little creek, where we rock-skipped some rocks.
My brother found this cute little Oklahoma rock. We couldn’t resist taking pictures!
Of course, you can’t go to Oklahoma without having s’mores, so, we had ourselves a camp out beside the fire and roasted s’mores. It was fun; we even sang songs by the fire. 🙂
Since, we were so close to Beavers Bend Lake, we couldn’t not stop and take a peek. It was lovely! We had a lot of fun just sitting on the rocks and stone-skipping every once in a while.
Looking back, I believe that I had a wonderful adventure. It was a amazing place to relax and get away from all of the troubles in life.
This unexpected vacation trip was just what I needed, and, well, it reminds me that God cares for us and has a plan for our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11. 🙂
