Count the Cost

Have you ever waited in a long line only to reach the cash register without enough money to purchase the items you picked out? Disappointed, you had to leave the line and put back the products which you were to buy. Because you didn’t count the cost of each item, you did not realize that you could not afford what you wanted. What does it cost you to follow Jesus? Did you sit down and count the cost before you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Did you realize that the cost could mean persecution, suffering, imprisonment, and even death? Jesus said in Luke 14:26 “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.” Are you willing to give all those things? Have you fully committed yourself to Jesus Christ? So, before you accept Jesus as your Savior, count the cost, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” Luke 14:28. But always remember the cost of being Jesus’ disciple is outweighed by the riches we have in Christ. “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”  Roman 8:18
