Dragons: Chapter One
I wrote this story a long time ago (like when I was twelve), but I decided to share it with ya’ll, so you can peak into what I was like then, for the writing portrays the author.
Desperate Plea
Quintina glanced back and saw a form looming behind her. The mid-noon sun blazed on her face, as she ran from the oncoming doom. The massive body of the dragon closed the short distance between them, releasing fresh fear into Quintina’s heart. A root found its way to Quintina’s foot and she tripped and fell to the ground. She knew there wasn’t a chance now! She turned around on her back, waiting for her dreadful end. She reached for her sword, even though there wasn’t a possibility of making it out alive. In no time the dragon was upon her. The grueling beast’s empty eyes stared into Quintina’s eyes. Quintina fought back the urge to scream. The dragon’s mouth opened to eat up his intriguing catch. His tongue slithered out and wrapped around Quintina’s body sending chills up and down her spine.
“Famberine, what do we have here.” Suddenly a man in black attire stepped out from behind a tree, nearly scaring Quintina out of her wits. A tinge of relief quelled up, for now she might get out alive and well. As if answering his question, the dragon named Famberine turned to the man, with Quintina wrapped in the dragon’s tongue. “Swell, swell, looks as if we caught a young one. She might be useful. What’s your name?
As relieved as Quintina was, she could not form any words on her tongue. The panic came rushing back as she realized that this man might take her captive.
“I can’t stand it when people don’t respond to me. She is no good, go ahead, Famberine. She’ll be a fine meal.” Famberine took his cue and slowly started to withdraw his tongue into his mouth, with its prey on it.
“Quintina, where are you?” surprisingly Quintina heard her older sister, Bonnie, yell all the way from the house, which was a mile away. She didn’t dare respond, for she knew it would be her end. “Father wants you, Quintina.”
The man’s face turned from his hideous smile to a look of surprise and fright.
“Famberine, come on, we need to hurry home!” Famberine loosen his grip on Quintina and followed his master deeper into the forest, leaving Quintina alone in the forest.
