Phantastes
In 1858 George McDonald published a book called Phantastes, a book that I am now reading.
Really the best way to describe Phantastes is stated in a quote from the book, “A fairy-story is like a vision without rational connections, a harmonious whole of miraculous things and events— as, for example, a musical fantasia, the harmonic sequence of an Aeolion harp, indeed Nature itself.” (Novalis, p. 3).
I think it’s pretty interesting. I love George McDonald’s literature. I recommend him to you entirely.
