A Way of Death
I was reading Proverbs 14, and I came across this verse. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
I thought about this and realized I knew one way that leads to death that everyone seems to follow. Throughout the world, you can ask almost anyone why they’re going to heaven when they die. They’ll say they will because they’ve been good. That their good deeds outweigh there bad ones.
So many believe that they can get to heaven by their good works. But believing this and going on this path leads to death. Because no matter how much you do good in this life, you have broken your relationship with God because you have sinned, and, even if there was only one time you sinned, the relationship is shattered.
We see in the Bible that the only way to heaven is through Jesus, who said “’I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” (John 14:6). All one must do to be saved is “’Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’” (Acts 16:31)
So, trusting in your good works will not get you to heaven. What or who do you put your trust in?
