I Love Fairytales!

Lately, I’ve been fascinated with George McDonald’s fairytales. From the Princess and the Goblin, to Phantastes, to the very book Fairytales itself, I have been enjoying them so much.

The element of mystery and imaginativeness with the aspect of true love infiltrates these novels and stories to the point where sometimes I just sit back in awe. I read of knights and princes sacrificing so much for the sake of love, giving their lives, their lands, and their hearts to a princess (who usually doesn’t like them at first). They inspire me to love better, because love truly matters.

Love makes one so unselfish and creates a beauty in that person which is even more beautiful than natural appearances. In his stories, George McDonald reflects on what true love is. And, well, I love it.

God loves us with perfect love. He loved us so much that He gave Jesus, His Son, to die in our place for us. What love is this? More than you or I could ever love. How far it goes. Beyond my comprehension. Since God loves us so much, should we not also love Him and others? 1 John 3:1 says “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” 1 John 3:16 tells us this: “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”

Are you ready to love like that? How you love shapes how you live.
