Writing
Once I wanted to mimic my some of my favorite authors, namely George McDonald and Jane Austen, in a story that I was going to write. Well, I started it and it never got finished. I was forcing myself into a style that, although I love, isn’t mine. So, how do I make it mine?
I’ve heard it said that you don’t have your own style until you’ve read a thousand books. The thousand books I’ve read weren’t all written by George McDonald, so I’m hard-pressed to write like him. Indeed, I’ve only read ten of his so far. So, in order to write more like him, I need to read more of his books.
Yet, at the moment I’m perfectly content with my very own style. Thank you, Lord, for the ability to write!
